I WOULD like to draw your attention and also to warn other disabled drivers of the way we are being targeted to to pay fines for so-called illegal parking in Bolton.
Our own ticket was given to us on November 2, 2000. I quote 'waiting on restricted yellow lines during restricted hours', in Old Hall Street North. Disabled drivers are allowed to park showing their badges for up to three hours. We have parked there many times before, with no trouble at all, but this week encountered several more disabled drivers being booked the same way.
On Friday, November 10, we went into town to do some Christmas shopping. On looking for a slot to park, we encountered three more disabled drivers who had been booked in the same spot, so we decided enough was enough, we went home. No more shopping in Bolton, we can park in Horwich for free or at Middlebrook. No wonder shops are closing in the town.
