A 21-year-old Bury man appeared in court today (Thurs) accused of murdering taxi driver Tariq Javed.
Mark Anthony Baker, of Hazel Avenue, is also charged with robbing Mr Javed on November 9.
He appeared before Bury magistrates this morning, flanked by three security officers in the dock. He wore a coloured top and tracksuit bottoms.
During the 20-minute hearing, he spoke only to confirm his name, age and address.
Defending solicitor Mr Stanley Sumara applied for reporting restrictions to be lifted but this was refused.
Baker was remanded in custody until November 23.
The body of Mr Javed, aged 48, of Richard Burch Street, Bury, who worked for Peel Taxis, was found in Alder Avenue last Thursday night.
