THE Design and Mechanical Technology subject group at Bolton Institute is launching a new undergraduate course which makes use of the latest computer tools.
The BEng (Hons) in Computer Aided Engineering (CAD) is intended for students wanting to follow an engineering or design-related career, designing systems and solving technical problems using computers.
Modern tools available at Bolton for modelling and rendering include Alias Wavefront, I-DEAS, 3D Studio, Autodesk Mechanical Desktop, Photoshop and the VR package Realimation.
The course is intended to address a shortage of skilled problem solvers and designers. It can be studied full-time in three or four years and part-time students can choose a range of course modules each year to build up credits towards a variety of awards.
