SAM Allardyce is preparing to make a move to sign Cameroon international Pierre Njanka.

The Strasbourg centre-half has been at the Reebok on trial this week and the Wanderers' boss likes what he sees.

"He looks quite good," the manager confirmed. "We'll look at the situation next week and see what the financial package is like. If it's not too bad, we will be looking to bring him to the club."

Njanka, who impressed Peter Reid during a trial spell at Sunderland in the summer, is valued at around £400,000 by the French club but it's his personal demands that could prove a stumbling block.

"His track record is exceptionally good," Allardyce said. "Not too long ago he played for the Rest of the World in a friendly international against France. With someone of his ability, it's all about affordability. But he fancies coming to England."

Meanwhile, Allardyce is hoping Kevin Nolan and Ricardo Gardner come through international outings unscathed and fit to face Norwich on Saturday.

Gardner plays for Jamaica in a World Cup qualifier in El Salvador this afternoon and is due to land in London tomorrow before teaming up with Wanderers at their East Anglian base; Nolan is due to play for England U-18s against Belgium in a friendly in Bradford tonight.

Dean Holdsworth has been ruled out of the Norwich game after aggravating a groin problem.

Jussi Jaaskelainen had mixed feelings after winning his sixth cap for Finland in Dublin last night. The Wanderers' No 1 was only expected to get a subs' shirt but got the nod ahead of Hearts' keeper Antii Niemi, only to end up on the receiving end of a 3-0 Irish win.

Tickets for Wanderers' game at Burnley on December 23 will not go on sale on Monday as previously stated. Details of selling arrangements have still to be finalised.
