Remember Coronation Street's Deirdre Rashid-Barlow when she fell for the charms and highly credible lies of conman John Lindsay?
Well, if a similar thing has happened to you, Clayton-le-Woods-based college lecturer Christine Kirkham is eager to hear your tales of woe for what is believed to be the first research project of its kind.
A senior lecturer with more than 30 years' experience in the field of psychology and mental health, Christine remembers the interest that the soap stirred up.
Not only did Lindsay convince Deirdre that he was a single man and a successful airline pilot, but he manipulated her into buying a house and fraudulently using a credit card.
"The storyline generated a tremendous response from female viewers who had been a real life Deirdre and proved that there are hundreds of women who may have been and are still being traumatised in this way."
Any Chorley women wishing to contribute in strictest confidence, forward details of their own experiences to Christine Kirkham, senior lecturer, Health and Social Studies Department, Bolton Institute, Deane Road, Bolton BL3 5AB. Replies will be sent to all letters received.
