KIND-HEARTED pupils at a Bolton secondary school have been collecting all their spare pennies for disabled children.
The youngsters at Smithills School are fundraising to show their support for providing sport opportunities for disabled children at their new £3M sports centre.
The school's new sports facility is due to open in spring 2001 and the money collected by pupils will pay for a table top cricket set, which is a mini-version of the full game suitable for both disabled and non-disabled young people alike.
The centre, which has received lottery funding, will also be available for members of the public to use.
Smithills head, John Lawson, said: "I'm delighted to purchase this equipment on behalf of the pupils at Smithills School.
"Their fundraising efforts have clearly demonstrated their commitment to providing sport and recreational activities for young people with disabilities."
