THROUGH your column, may I take this opportunity to thank all those who took part in the 11th Annual Concert of Remembrance, held on Saturday, November 11, at Bolton's Albert Halls.
It was refreshing to see so many young people both from the Heywood School Choir and from the members of three cadet armed services, whose turnout and smartness was a credit to them all, and to the school and units to which they belonged. How gratifying in a world where publicity for young people is normally focused on the wrong-doings of a minority.
Congratulations should also be given to Cllr Frank White with his inimitable humour and as compere staged a creditable performance, making a pleasant evening of nostalgia in remembering those dark days of the war, and to remember comrades, both men and women, who paid the final sacrifice. I look forward to the 12th Concert of Remembrance.
