A MAN is continuing to fight for his life in hospital after being badly burnt in a building site explosion.
Albert Heys, 54, of Allenby Grove, Westhoughton, remains in a "critical but stable" condition at the Royal Preston Hospital.
He was rushed to hospital last Tuesday after a gas powered machine he was using to remove plaster from the walls of a Blackburn flat blew up in his face.
Despite suffering 50 per cent burns in the blast at Livesey Court flats, Mill Hill, Blackburn, Mr Heys managed to stagger down 240 stairs to seek medical attention.
Mr Heys, an employee of Westhoughton-based Malrods for 14-years, was a foreman on the job working as a contractor for Blackburn Council.
The council is currently helping officers from the Health and Safety Executive with a full investigation into the explosion.
