I FELT I had to put pen to paper with regard to your article on the dad and the 'Baby Blues' (BEN: November 14).

I'm sorry, but I agree with the Octagon. As an avid theatre-goer, I would be very disgruntled if a theatre allowed a young infant in. If that child got at all upset or agitated, my enjoyment would be spoiled, and I'm sure the actors' performance would be affected.

I am a parent and, yes, it's good that more places allow children (indeed, I believe the Octagon does shows for children). But a six-week-old baby? Theatre is not a cinema. It's a live production and thus affected by outside influences. People get agitated if people rattle a sweet wrapper, let alone a crying baby!

I would question why any parent would drag a young baby out on a winter's night. Do they not have anyone who could baby-sit? If not -- stay at home. When a parent-- sacrifices must be made.

I applaud the Octagon for considering the feelings/enjoyment of the rest of its audience. I think most readers would agree they would like to pay their money and watch the adult show in peace.
