NEW franchise holder David Philips says business is booming at the Bolton and Wigan depot of express delivery company Amtrak.
A £250,000 investment programme has led to a 40 per cent increase over the past three months in consignments handled each week.
Mr Philips says several major new clients are now on board.
"We have had a bonus with home computer giant PC World moving to Bury and that will mean a considerable increase in our business."
The depot on the Wingates industrial estate is one of the largest in the North-west.
Mr Philips, who ran the Amtrak franchise at Warrington for 10 years, added: "We are showing continuing growth which confirms my belief in the business prospects of Bolton and Wigan.
"We are committed to playing a developing role in the business and commercial life of the community."
The Wingates operation is one of more than 100 Amtrak depots in the UK served by more than 850 radio-linked delivery vans.
