A TEACHER from Atherton suspended after allegedly hitting a pupil with a piece of wire was reinstated last night.
Governors meeting at Hesketh Fletcher Church of England School decided to lift the suspension against science teacher Anthony Taylor.
He was suspended a week ago after being accused of tapping a 13-year-old boy with a piece of wire he usually used as a pointer while teaching.
At a disciplinary committee hearing of the governing body, school governors decided to take disciplinary action in the form of a warning.
Mr Taylor, who was suspended on November 15, is due to start back at work tomorrow.
The allegation of assault had come from the pupil.
Mr Taylor could still appeal against the action taken by the governers against him in the form of a warning but they did not expected he would do so.
Chairman of governors Gary Shepherd said today: "The case was considered last night by the disciplinary committee of the governing body.
"Appropriate action has been taken and Mr Taylor is expected to return to work on Thursday. The decision is still subject to an appeal and therefore we cannot make any further comment at this stage."
There is no police investigation into the matter.
