A COMPUTER consultant from Dublin is hoping a dedicated Bolton Wanderers fan will snap up a website named after the football club.

Brendan O'Neill currently owns the registration of the internet domain www.boltonwanderers.com

Self-employed internet expert Mr O'Neill bought the site name more than two years ago, planning to give it as a hi-tech present to his girlfriend from Bolton.

Mr O'Neill would not reveal the identity of the Bolton woman to the BEN.

But their relationship ended and the Aston Villa fan based in Ireland found he had no real use for the website.

So now the domain, which he values at an undisclosed sum, is up for sale to the highest bidder.

Mr O'Neill said: "I have had a few offers and interest expressed in the domain. But no one has yet been able to meet my valuation. It is in the range of thousands of pounds but I will not reveal any more than that unless a genuine bidder contacts me. I'm sure a Wanderers fan or group of supporters would love to have it."

He added: "Being involved in computers I was able to spot the potential and buy the registration early enough before anyone else thought of it.

"I only picked on Bolton Wanderers because my girlfriend at the time was from Bolton. If she had been from Glasgow I would have tried to get the registration of a domain called Glasgow Rangers or whatever."

Wanderers has its own official website at www.bwfc.co.uk and the BEN's own www.thisisbolton.co.uk site already supplies unrivalled coverage 24 hours a day.

No one was available for comment at the Reebok Stadium about whether the club were interested in the www.boltonwanderers.com site.

Anyone interested in negotiating with Mr O'Neill for the registration rights to the website domain can contact him via e-mail on: avocado@iol.ie.
