A TRIO of teenage girls who pick up litter as part of Bolton's environmental team are cleaning up at nights -- on the entertainment circuit.

The teenagers from Westhoughton have created the group Sweet Dreams -- but are wide awake to the potential rewards of success.

Friends Hannah Killcross, Sarah Rothwell and Samantha Eccles, all aged 15, formed their group just six months ago.

And in that time they have dedicated themselves to putting on shows for charities.

As a result they have raised more than £1,000 out of just three appearances. On the last occasion they raised £450 for Children in Need and were invited up to the BBC studios in Manchester to hand over their cheque.

Other appearances have included a pop concert in Queen's Park, and a performance in aid of Bolton Hospice.

The girls are now offering to sing on behalf of any other charity appeals in the area.

Linda Rothwell, Sarah's mother, said: "Sarah and Samantha have known one another for years through dancing school. But all three are members of the Green Generation, the council run environmental team in Bolton.

"They perform a variety of music ranging from Steps, S Club 7 and Lulu. "The three of them are really serious in pursuing their singing and are particularly keen to carry on appearing for charities." Sarah, who has been involved in raising money for charity with the Starlight Cabaret, has also won the Bolton heat of Greater Manchester Police's Citizen of the Year competition for her efforts both on the stage and with the Green Generation.

Sarah attends Smithills School, while Samantha and Hannah are pupils at Westhoughton High School.

Any charities who would like the girls to sing at their events can contact Linda on 01942 493086.
