Chorley ... 0
Stocksbridge ... 1
CHORLEY have no game on Saturday but next Tuesday entertain Droylsden in the Unibond League Cup.
It's going to be Chorley's last chance of winning anything this season as they are struggling in the Unibond First Division, out of the FA Cup, the FA Trophy and the County Cup.
Droylsden won't be an easy mark. Although they are below half-way in the Premier League they are certainly a cut above the class the Magpies have been showing recently.
Former Droylsden central defender Greg Challender is now playing with Chorley and will be able to give his team-mates the inside track on The Bloods.
Saturday's clash with Stocksbridge was another very disappointing home display byChorley when. not for the first time this season, they conceded an injury time goal to leave them once again empty-handed.
The Magpies were punchless and the lack of a regular goalkeeper is now proving to be a real problem. Visiting goalkeepers will be turning up in their best suits soon!
Chorley kicked off with just one recognised striker in Matt Swailes and, despite plenty of possession, rarely threatened.
Captain Paul Fleming tried his luck with two long-range efforts and Hook was unfortunate to hit the bar from a Smythe corner.
Stocksbridge were, in truth, no better and the crowd were only awakened when Smythe was ridiculously sent off with an hour gone.
Ronan scythed down Smythe and the retaliation -- mild in the circumstances -- somehow merited a red card while Ronan escaped with a yellow.
Having never looked like scoring with a full complement, Chorley were not likely to find a way through with ten men. Mitchell, though, overran a good chance after beating the keeper until, in injury time, Stocksbridge nicked the points when Fearn's cross was acrobatically headed home by Askey.
