I TOO saw a reference to the possibility of some Bolton lollipop jobs being axed. But I thought this issue had been resolved without any job losses!
For years lollipop persons have been 'needed', perhaps because of the lowly pay rate given to the posts.
Would councillors, used to doing little more than registering their votes, like to cover the 'crossings'? Of course they wouldn't.
Neither would councillors call for umpteen schoolchildren, and deliver the children to schoolyards in crocodile fashion.
No one could be held responsible for accidents, and 'workers' would be thrown onto life's scrapheap!
How is it that when jobs are axed, it is usually the lower paid who suffer? Low paid work is as important as higher paid work!
Axe lollipop jobs at your peril!
