SANTA has a new ho-ho-home in Bolton's Crompton Place shopping centre after a town centre parade.

The Crompton Place Father Christmas was towed in on the Rotary Club's sleigh along Bradshawgate, Deansgate, Mealhouse Lane and Hotel Street before arriving at the complex.

He popped into bakers Greenhalgh's for a quick mince pie and sherry before welcoming the first children to his grotto. And children from Top O'Th' Brow Primary School sang White Christmas.

The shopping centre is giving away £1,000 worth of Dreamcast consoles, games and accessories in the run-up to Christmas for the customers who dream up the best names for Santa's helpers.

Promotions every Thursday and Saturday include free face painting and balloon modelling. Every child who visits the grotto on these days will receive a goodie bag including a badge, hat and chocolate. Special offers include free mince pie tasting and sherry sampling at Greenalgh's.
