REGARDING the ongoing debate about the "car park that was", at Tonge Moor Labour Club. I feel so angry about the empty promises made by the Labour Club. When they were applying for planning permission to rebuild the club on the original car park site, users of the car park were told -- "Put up with the noise, dirt and inconvenience and we will have a lovely new car park."
Could Cllr Frank White please tell us if they feel no responsibility to honour their 'gentleman's agreement' as quoted by Cllr Nick Peel? Why did they make arrangements with Tonge Moor Primary School to let people use part of their school yard as a temporary car park? This was supposed to be until the building was completed and the new car park ready. So, 'gentlemen' of the Labour Club, how about getting talking to the appropriate powers-that-be? The car park was used by patients, social workers, elderly people being taken for lunch to Thicketford Houses by carers, by staff helping to run a service, and last, but not least, the local community.
To close -- the original sign read 'Tonge Moor Health Centre and Tonge Moor Labour Club Car Park'. What has changed? Will someone get the ball rolling and sort out this mess! This problem will not just go away.
