Wanderers under 19s hit back after two successive 1-0 defeats to beat Wrexham 3-0.
Despite playing into the teeth of a strong wind and driving rain they opened brightly with the defence holding firm and the midfield, ably marshalled by Matt Stephan, were in control with slick passing.
Early chances fell to Downey and Letson before a driving run on the right wing saw Danny Crumblehulme race into the box and unleash a stinging low shot giving the Wrexham keeper no chance.
Wanderers dominated the second half and Ciaran Ryan who came on as sub soon made his presence felt when he notched the Bolton second. Shortly afterwards the quiet Ulsterman Craig Letson converted a third after another move which split open the Wrexham defence.
With the U17s winning 6-1 against a much lauded Crewe side on the next pitch, the dressing rooms at Euxton after the match were the places to be and with the youth cup coming up the results couldn't have come at a better time.
