DETECTIVES are studying CCTV footage to trace a gunman who blasted a bouncer.

The 31-year-old doorman supervisor was gunned down outside the Temple nightclub on Friday night.

The incident happened just 21 hours after two clubbers were shot outside the Atlantis nightclub in Astley Bridge. Police are not connecting the two incidents.

Today, senior detectives confirmed witnesses to the Temple shooting, at 11.30pm on Friday, were still being interviewed.

Video film from nearby CCTV cameras was being scanned by officers.

The doorman was shot in the legs three times after the masked attacker -- dressed in black -- walked to within six feet of his victim before firing.

As the bouncer fell to the floor, the gunman ran off towards All Saints Street.

Det Insp Mo Shafiq confirmed the bouncer -- who has not been named -- was recovering in the Royal Bolton Hospital.

He said: "We spoke to him yesterday and he's getting better but is still unable to walk.

"According to the victim, the attacker was masked so he does not know if he was a white man or not.

"Forensic scientists are examining material recovered to identify the weapon."

Senior detectives urged witnesses who may have seen two cars drive between bollards after turning right at the top of All Saints Street, to contact them.

It is believed the cars were a light Rover coupe and a dark Ford Focus. Anyone with information can call Bolton CID on 0161 856 5640.
