DJ Mark Radcliffe, the darling of Radio One by bringing in an extra half a million listeners, has been rewarded with a new popular slot.
But he says the new show will still be full of "the same old garbage".
And the news of former Bolton School pupil Mark and his side-kick Lard's success means Bolton is "dominating planet showbiz", according to the BBC publicity machine.
His fellow Boltonian Sara Cox, who has already captured the hearts and ears of the nation with her early morning breakfast programme, is also on the move in the Radio One shake-up announced yesterday.
The new look Radio One hits the airways in February
But the schedule change is likely to be less traumatic than three-and-a-half years ago when Mark and Lard were booted off the flagship Breakfast show after their ratings began to fall.
From February, Mark will be turning up at the Manchester studios, from where he broadcasts to an audience of 5.3 million, an hour earlier at 1pm, and according to he Beeb will continue to "skin the competition alive".
The new schedule also means Sara will get an extra half-hour lie in in the morning, starting her show at 7am and going on until 10am.
The former Canon Slade School pupil said: "I won't be having to go to bed quite so early now but it will give me more time to spin some huge chawns."
It has been a massive year for Sara since she took over the coveted radio slot from mate Zoe Ball in April.
She has broadcast from Ibiza and Glastonbury as well as home town of Bolton as part of One Big Sunday.
But it has not all been plain sailing. She has received national press criticism for her laddish behaviour and has been carpeted by her bosses on a couple of occasions for on-air gaffes.
In August, the 25-year-old was in mourning following the death of her step-dad Ken Costello.
Toast
Mark is the toast of Radio One bosses at the moment after winning half-a-million new listeners for his show over the past year, with his off-beat brand of humour and music mix as well as two annual gold Sony awards.
The 41-year-old DJ joked that he was disappointed the schedulers had not cut his on-air time as they are struggling to find good material.
He said: "That's why there's all sorts of rubbish in our show. I am just glad I still don't have to get up early or stay late."
Mark and Lard are now planning to re-vamp their show for the move.
