IF Bolton Seconds are to have any ambitions of promotion come the end of the season, they must learn to beat the teams who can stop them achieving their dream.
They have failed to beat Rossendale, although they were unlucky, but scraped a 1-1 draw against Liverpool University and produced the same result against Knutsford.
Although missing key players, Bolton started poorly and never really looked like the side which came so close to pulling of the upset of the season last week.
The midfield looked out of sorts as Chris Dean could not find anybody in a Bolton shirt to pass to.
Knutsford looked more comfortable on the ball, and at times, looked to overrun the Bolton defence time after time.
A bad mistake in defence handed Knutsford's opener on a plate as Chris Goldsbrough was left cruelly exposed.
This then seemed to bring Bolton to life as the team began to play with some purpose. From a short corner, Richard Guest fired in the Bolton equaliser with an absolute rocket of a shot. Bolton then took control until the half time interval.
In the second half Bolton looked more confident and piled on the pressure upon the Knutsford goal.
Woeful finishing prevented Bolton from taking the lead. Tempers soon flared and Bolton lost their rhythm again with a few Bolton, as well as Knutsford players, lucky to stay on the pitch.
As the game petered out into a dull draw, Bolton must learn not to give possession away too easily if they wish to reap the rewards, come the end of the season. The only notable good points from the game were the solid performances from Goldsbrough, Guest, young Matt Short and the tireless Owen Evans.
