I AM writing regarding the excessive penalty notice that was issued to my husband's car after displaying his grandmother's blue badge.
Apparently the traffic warden concerned could not see an expiry date on the badge. I cannot understand why a £20 fine has to be implemented. Obviously Bolton Metro are yet another £20 richer, and the traffic warden concerned justifies his employment, or do they work on commission?
Someone at the Environment Department stated to my husband that these are guidelines and must be followed. Well, why not change your guidelines and leave a producer ticket on cars that are not showing these badges correctly. My husband's grandmother, Mrs Ivy Hurst, did have a valid blue badge at the time the penalty was issued, but obviously that deems no importance or interest to your department because it apparently was not displayed in a regimental position, and as stated by yourselves, you can't let everyone off!
However due to Mrs Hurst being a law abiding citizen all her life, she has paid this fine in full, fearing the consequences!
But may I point out she will be very cautious of using this badge in future, thus defeating the object. She was granted this badge to maintain her independence and travel to local shops with easy access, being able to park closer to them due to her disability.
