A GUN maniac who shot two innocent Bolton nightclubbers was still on the run today -- nearly a week after the attack.
Detectives hunting the gunman who fired up to seven shots at clubbers and doormen say the wanted man is "extremely dangerous".
A 27-year-old man and a 19-year-old man suffered multiple wounds when they were shot outside the Atlantis nightclub in Eagley Brook Way early last Friday.
And today -- despite the arrest of three men in connection with the shooting -- police have confirmed they are still on the hunt for the man who pulled the trigger.
Det Chief Insp Dave Law, who is leading the investigation, added: "This is an extremely dangerous individual. It's just a matter of good luck that people were not killed outside that nightclub.
"From our information this was not a drug related or gangland shooting. It was an indiscriminant firing at the front of the club at doormen and club-goers.
"As far as we're concerned the two men who were shot were just innocent club-goers. The only crime they committed was to stand outside the doors of a nightclub, waiting to go home after a good night out."
Both gunshot victims are continuing to recover in the Royal Bolton Hospital, with the 27-year-old man having undergone surgery shortly after the attack in which he was shot four times in the stomach.
The Atlantis gunman hunt comes as detectives continue to question two men in connection with the shooting. The pair were arrested yesterday, one in the morning and the second man later last night.
Both men were still being quizzed by detectives at Astley Bridge Police Station this lunchtime.
One man has already appeared before Bolton magistrates in connection with the incident, charged with two attempted murders, possession of a firearm and violent disorder.
In a separate police probe, officers at Bolton Central are continuing to investigate a gun attack outside the Temple nightclub in St George's Street, which came just 21 hours after the Atlantis incident.
Detectives are not connecting the two shootings.
A 31-year-old Temple bouncer was shot three times in the legs and is now recovering in the Royal Bolton Hospital as detectives scan CCTV footage to try to track down the attacker.
Anyone with information about the Atlantis shooting can contact Astley Bridge CID on 0161 856 5740/5751.
Witnesses to the Temple shooting can contact Bolton Central CID on 0161 856 5640.
