FORMER Bolton School pupil David Cain, aged 37, has been appointed IT Programme Services Director of Barclays Bank.
Mr Cain joined Barclays in 1981 after completing A-levels and went to Barclays' Radbroke Hall at Knutsford as a trainee computer programmer. He was selected for the management development programme in 1985.
In his most recent position he was responsible for the development of the Barclays Internet on-line banking facility which has more than 1.5 million customers and is recognised as one of the largest in the world.
Mr Cain won a free place to Bolton School after his primary education at St Ethelbert's, Deane and St Bernard's, Ladybridge.
He lives with his wife Joanne and children Jasmine and Harry in Hartford, Cheshire.
His parents, brother Paul and family still live in Ashworth Lane, Bolton.
Mr Cain, a keen golfer, still plays five-a-side football but misses turning out for the Old Bolts' side.
