LOCAL boxer Amir Khan continues to make a name for himself with victory for England in the Schools Inter-Nations tournament against Scotland in Ipswich.
Amir, a third year pupil at Smithills High School, who trains at Bury Amateur Boxing Club was one of 11 boxers called up by the England ABA. He weighed in at 48.2Kilos lighter than opponent D. McAdam at 52K who had only lost once in his previous 12 bouts.
That did not bother Amir who was fully focused and confident and he controlled the first two rounds and was close to stopping his opponent in the final round. He won a unanimous decision to help England to an 11-0 whitewash.
Amir, who won the best boxer of the evening award, has been invited to attend an England training session at Crystal Palace this weekend.
