WINGATES BAND again have a very busy concert schedule this month beginning tomorrow when the band will repeat their successful Brass andVoices formula with their guests on this occasion the renowned Haydock Male Voice Choir.

The venue for this concert is Aspull Civic Hall, commencing at 8pm.

Founded in 1923 (exactly 50 years after Wingates band) Haydock Male Voice Choir have regularly proved themselves to be amongst the top choirs in the country, having been regularly crowned as Northern Male Voice Choir Champions and, in addition, within the last few years have twice finished as runners up in the National Championships.

Under the musical direction of Gary Hill the choir currently has over 80 members, some as young as 20, but others being octogenarians!

With Wingates, in the opinion of many informed critics, playing better than for some years under the baton of Alan Lawton, a wonderful musical evening is in prospect for local brass band and choral fans.

Tickets for the Aspull concert are available from Aspull Civic Hall, Wigan Tourist Information Office or via David Kaye on 01942 845000 (office) or 01204 595938 (home).
