Wanderers continued their magnificent away run as they celebrated a 1-0 win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge,
The win ended Chelsea's run of seven games without defeat and took the Wanderers unbeaten away run to nine games.
Roy Greaves hit the goal that gave Wanderers the points after an Alan Waldron shot had hit a post following a Peter Thompson free kick.
In the end, however, it took an 88th minute wonder penalty save by Wanderers keeper Barry Siddall from Ray Wilkins to keep the points safe.
That win kept Wanderers in second place in the Second Division two points behind Sunderland. FROM the BEN, December 3, 1990
FORMER Wanderers midfield man Neil McNab could do little to halt Wanderers recording a 2-1 win over his new club Tranmere.
The former Tottenham man admitted that Bolton "are one of the best teams in the league" as Wanderers leapfrogged over Rovers into sixth place.
Bolton started the match without Steve Thompson but boss Phil Neal decided to plunge Tony Philliskirk back into the fray after the player had trained only two days in the last six weeks because of injury.
The move paid off after Scott Green had headed Wanderers ahead when Philliskirk put the game out of Tranmere's reach with a blistering shot that gave keeper Erix Nixon no chance. From the BEN, December 4, 1995
LUCKLESS keeper Keith Branagan took the rap as Wanderers were held to a 1-1 draw by Nottingham Forest.
Branagan was at fault as he conceded his third last minute goal of the season, leaving the Wanderers without the victory they had worked so hard to achieve.
Branagan thought he had knocked away the corner but he only succeeded in putting it on to Stuart Pearce's head and when the ball came back in, Colin Cooper grabbed the late, late equaliser.
Up to that point Wanderers looked as if they had taken the winning points after a goal started ironically by Branagan.
He started the move that ended with Fabian de Freitas hitting Forest with a stunning finish.
