IT was a touching moment when tiny bride Farrah Smyth said "I do" to miniature groom Samuel Greer.

As guests looked on, the couple tied the knot and made their wedding vows -- before disappearing in the distance down the school corridor on a playground trolley dressed with balloons!

The mock ceremony was all part of an elaborate lesson for youngsters at St William of York RC Primary School, Nugent Road, Bolton.

More than 50 children packed into the nursery, dressed in their best bib and tucker -- cardboard bow ties and hats -- to celebrate the wedding of the two popular three year olds.

Early years co-ordinator Stephanie Clarke said: "We have been carrying out a theme of celebration all term.

"The children and parents put in a lot of effort. All the children dressed up in their best party outfits.

"We had six bridesmaids all wearing proper bridesmaids outfits, a best man and even a father of the bride.

"As soon as the children came into school on the wedding day, they started getting dressed as if it was a real wedding."

After the serious part of the day, the youngsters were served up a real treat -- jam and cheese spread sandwiches washed down by lemonade.

There even was a wedding album of pictures put together as a fitting reminder to reception and nursery children of the happy day.

Mrs Clarke, who acted as a vicar during the ceremony, said: "There was no shortage of volunteers for the bride and groom.

"Normally, children of this age are quite shy about having boyfriends and girlfriends. But not here.

"We had to be very tactful in choosing. But we made everyone feel special. All the children had a part to play. It was a lovely day and one which will be remembered for a long time."
