Wanderers' doctor Dave Dennard, one of the most familiar faces at the club over the last two decades, is to leave his post to concentrate on his Pikes Lane general practice.
He has been appointed vice-president as a reward for his hard work and dedication during 19 years' service.
The Doc - a lifelong Wanderers' fan - has treated hundreds of players, travelled to every league ground in the country, seen thousands of games and followed the team's fortunes enthusiastically through the divisions.
He said: "It will be a strange feeling going to matches and not having anything to do but watch football. I have enjoyed my time at the club enormously. I have worked with nine managers and six chairmen. It has been a privilege to work with so many great players."
Wanderers' chairman, Phil Gartside, said: " have known David for many years and travelled to hundreds of games with him. We are great friends and I will be very sorry to see him leave. Grimsby on wet Tuesday nights will never be the same again."
A new appointment will be announced shortly.
