DRAMA Workshop who are based at the Theatre Church, Astley Bridge, have entered the Great Manchester Community Arts Festival which started last Saturday.
The festival is a week-long celebration of community arts, involving performances, workshops, exhibitions and screenings.
Drama Workshop will perform an extract from their new play An Unexpected Love Affair. This play has been written by workshop members, based on their own improvisations.
It is a lighthearted comedy which tells the story of Eric the Grim Reaper and the events which befall him as he finds out that even he must face his final day.
The full play can be seen this Friday and Saturday at the Theatre Church, Astley Bridge at 8 pm.
Proceeds from the performances will be given to Health Action Overseas, a charity helping Romanian Orphanages.
Each year members of Drama Workshop who are aged from eight to 18 choose a charity to support.
In January this year the workshop joined ITV's Year of Promise, pledging to raise at least £2,000 in the year 2000 for Health Action Overseas.
By May of this year they had raised more than £1,300 and it is hoped that ticket sales from this production will help to reach the target figure.
Tickets from Wendy Ellis on 01204 431395.
