WARBURTON Cup holders Withins A from division one progressed to the third round with a comfortable 5-3 win over Premier side Hilton A.
Derrick Buckley was the star performer with three wins for Withins.
Four Premier teams are through to the next round, current table toppers Ramsbottom A proving too strong for first division Wharton B with a 7-2 win which included a treble by Mike Moir.
Mosses scored an 8-1 win over Cell Security from division five, and Little Lever A also recorded a comfortable 6-3 win over BEN B from division four. Halliwell Road Meths, the current leaders of division four, were just pipped on the final set of the night by Lostock in a very close match.
Two other first division teams won through, Nomads A and Chorley Old Road. Craig Johnson trebled for Nomads in their 6-3 win over second division leaders Horwich Hilton C, as did Kevan Orton for Chorley Old Road in their 6-3 win over Memorial Road from division four.
Four second division teams won through, Heaton B, Black Dog, BEN A and Wingates B. Black Dog and Wingates both beating Premier teams by the same score-line 7-2. Mel Brooks trebled for Black Dog against Ramsbottom B, as did Hannah Roberts and Eddie Lee against Wharton A. Heaton won 7-2 on their visit to first division Wingates A which included a treble by Paul Mort, and Mike Audsley won three sets to help BEN to a 5-2 win over Hilton E from division three.
In the all third division match Little Lever D made good use of their four points start to record a comfortable 5-1 win at Ladybridge B, and Chris Higson scored three wins plus two from Eric Shaw to give Heaton D a 5-4 win against first division Ladybridge A. Two teams from division four are left in the competition, Jubilee A who won a very close match 5-4 on their visit to division one team Little Lever C, three wins here for Roger Bolton plus one each for Bhikhu Patel and Carol Wheawell, and Meadow Hill B who scored a very good 7-1 win over Horwich Hilton B also from division one, three wins for Kath Hilton and two each for Ian Oakes and John Riley.
One match result is outstanding at this time.
Would all players who have entered the Divisional Singles on Sunday December 10 please note that this competition will be played to a conclusion on the day.
The two Bolton veterans teams have been in action recently, the first team beating Wirral B 10-0 but, the A team lost to Lytham A 8-2.
