AT a time when one reads so much that is critical of the younger end of our society, I felt obliged to write regarding my experience on the 501 bus leaving town this morning (Dec 1).
Having insufficient change, I embarrassed the driver by offering a £10 note for my 60p fare. He asked if I had change and, on checking, I found that I was 5p short.
The young lady next to me immediately produced a 5p coin and insisted that I took it. Her kindness was much appreciated by the driver and me. I didn't know the young lady but she got off the bus at the first stop in Vernon Street at nearly 10.20am and, through your column I would like to thank her again for her spontaneous kindness.
