I drive regularly into Farnworth from Kearsley. As one enters Farnworth off the A666 on the left hand side, you come across this huge derelict building situated in a very prominent part of Farnworth.
All the windows on this building have been broken, and the whole structure looks as if it is about to collapse. It is situated off the pavement, therefore it is also a safety hazard for those pedestrians walking by.
The old Farnworth division does have a unique history, but I do believe the Labour Council have taken Farnworth for granted just like the Bolton South East Constituency. That is why we are the poorer of the three Bolton constituencies, with under development, high unemployment, and a high crime record.
The derelict structure which I have mentioned, and its prominent location coupled with the idea of re-development and modernisation, could give Farnworth the face lift it needs.
Bolton Council had received a golden handshake policy from Central Government, and I believe some of this money should have been invested our way in Bolton South East.
The Council needs to appreciate there is a third constituency which has a population of nearly 90,000 people consisting of seven wards; Farnworth, Little Lever, Harper Green, Burnden, Daubhill, Derby and Kearsley.
