Chorley Lynx 12 Swinton Lions 30
DESPITE this opening day defeat in the Northern Ford Premiership there were clear signs that the new Chorley Lynx have a brighter future.
Under new coach, former Wigan star Graeme West, Lynx battled throughout against a more experienced Swinton outfit.
Swinton fielded the likes of former St Helens stars Phil Veivers and Paul Loughlin while new-look Lynx put together a team of amateurs and bargain buys.
A crowd of almost 700 saw Lynx go in at half-time 18-6 down.
Former Adlington ARLFC winger opened the scoring for the Victory Park outfit, touching down following a Fisher kick to the corner.
Fisher landed a penalty during the first 40 minutes, but Lynx went in trailing to Lions' tries from Loughlin, Smith and Cheetham.
After the restart, Lions centre Nanyn went over for a touchdown before Lynx stand off Potter scored a fine try, goaled by Fisher.
But Nanyn -- who also landed three goals -- went over for another try and in the last minute substitute Crossland wrapped it up for the visitors. PUTTING the pressure on: Lynx and Swinton battle it out.
