RESIDENTS of Lisieux Hall, Whittle-le-Woods are to benefit from a charity windfall.
For one of Britain's oldest charities -- the Broughton Catholic Charitable Society (BCCS) -- has donated £1,250 to the centre.
Brian Kelly, director of services at Lisieux Hall said the cash is very welcome.
"One of the members of the BCCS has two grandsons who use our services and she made the application on our behalf," he said.
"The contribution will be used towards the purchase of a new minibus." The BCCS -- now 214 years old -- is looking for new members to ensure its future.
Membership cost is low, but anyone wanting to join must be a Catholic, and be born or resident in Lancashire, or of Lancashire parents.
The society defines Lancashire as it was before reorganisation in 1974 -- so Cumbria, Manchester, Liverpool and their environs are included.
Interested people can contact the society's secretary, Leo Casey, on 0161 652 9729. CHEQUE IT OUT: BCCS president Kevin Heneghan (right) and chairman Peter Birmingham (left) present the cheque to Eugene Culshaw.
