SIMPLY RED star Mick Hucknall took the latest craze for all things glittery to new lengths when he had a sparkling red stone fitted to a TOOTH.
Now Mick's fashion statement can be emulated by fans in Bolton who want a sparkling smile.
And the good news is that the jewels fitted at a local beauty salon are a temporary version so you can change your sparkle to match your mood.
Julie Arrojo at the Chic Beauty Rooms in Bradshawgate, says the latest trend is a fun look for Christmas. She decided to stock the jewels after spotting them in beauty magazines. "I felt sure they would catch on. After all jewels are popular all over the body at the moment."
There are three colours to choose from, diamond-style, aquamarine and gold because, as Julie explains: "It's the in-colour for Christmas."
The stones come in three sizes and they have to be applied to a flat tooth, either top or bottom, and cost £10.
Julie says: "Some people prefer a fairly discreet jewel and others like the more obvious colours."
They apparently take a little getting used to but once you've had them for a while you forget they are there.
The jewels are attached to the tooth with adhesive, last anything from one week to months -- it just depends how careful you are -- and dislodge themselves naturally.
Julie explains: "Mick Hucknall had his tooth drilled and the jewel was then attached. It's a permanent thing.
"The good thing about the jewels I have is that they are not permanent, they're just fun."
