BOLTON North East MP David Crausby has joined a call for a review of the cost of the new Wembley Stadium.
He is one of seven MPs demanding a re-think as the cost has soared to £660 million.
The decision to pull down the historic Wembley - where England won their only soccer World Cup in 1966 - and replace it with a new stadium, has been dogged with controversy.
Now Mr Crausby and his colleagues, including Chorley's Lindsay Hoyle, want another look at the whole scheme.
The MPs say: "We note that the cost of the proposed new Wembley Stadium has soared to £660m before work has even commenced, that 30 major international banks have all refused to fund the project, and that England will not be hosting the football World Cup until 2014 at the earliest.
"We call on the Government to intervene, with a view to all involved being required to reconsider whether building a new stadium at Wembley is in the national interest."
