MAY I express my concern to your article on November 29, - 'Driving school aid for disabled'.
If disabled person wishes to have advice or information with regards to their disability, they would very strongly be advised to attend a driving assessment centre, where medical advice and assistance of a qualified occupational therapist would be available, along with all the latest up-to-date modification and adaptations available, that would meet their individual needs - not to attend a driving school that has completed a three-day informative course.
Would you try selling the Oxford Times if you didn't publish it, I would guess not.
My first concern as a professional would be for the care and welfare of the client, along with the advice they would receive. Secondly I feel it to be very unfair towards other driving schools, who could and do the job to a very high standard.
All Assessment centres hold a directory of all the driving schools throughout the country that provide services to the disabled, indicating what special adaptation they have and what service they provide.
