THE Government grant of nearly £500,000 for children in Bolton with special needs is very welcome.
As our story today reveals, the money will provide information and advice for parents, improve training for staff and support pupils who are unable to attend school because of illness or injury.
Today, more than ever before, it is recognised that some children do need extra tuition and help in school.
It is right that the money should be made available for this "special" help so that they do not fall too far behind their peers.
The more that services for these youngsters can be improved, the better it will be for schools generally.
