TWENTY anglers braved biting Siberian winds in Bolton Angling Centres latest match on Pine Lodge but decent weights of skimmers were taken despite the elements.
John Raby fished the pole with red maggot to take the days top weight of 11lbs-9ozs. Then things got very competitive with only twelve ounces separating the following five places.
John Crook made second with 7lbs-0ozs and two anglers tied for third spot with Chris Riley and Dave Wordsnop both returning 6lbs-9ozs. Fifth was Martin Thompson with 6lbs-6ozs and Peter Riley came in sixth with 6lbs-4ozs.
HFARNWORTH Anglers were delighted and thankful with the turn out of 20 helpers in last weekend's clean-up session that left Dixon Green Reservoir like a new pin. The hired skip was full by the end of the day, unfortunately with mainly tipped household refuse. The clean-up heralds the commencement, on May 30th of the Wednesday Night Opens that proved very popular last year. Details of booking arrangements will be given in this column nearer the time.
