SOME of Bury's older residents today had a chance to remember how things used to be when they called into Whitefield Library.
Bury Metro Libraries' Library Club staged one of its popular lunchtime sessions involving older people in residential care.
Fifteen residents from Chestnut Court, Hollybank and Killalea House looked back on the days when libraries generally meant plenty of silence and very little else.
They joined reminiscence worker Jean Lonsdale to gather memories of libraries in the past which will be used in a booklet being produced to celebrate this year's Bury Library and Art Gallery centenary.
Jean said: "We would in fact love to hear from anyone who has a memory of Bury Library.
"It does not matter if it is a bad one, such as being told off or thrown out, although we would like to see some good ones too.
"If you have a contribution please send it to me at Bury Central Library, Manchester Road, Bury, BL9 0DG or alternatively mark it for my attention and leave it any of our local libraries across the borough."
