THE end of the Nationwide Conference season can't come quickly enough for battle-weary Leigh RMI.
Tonight Steve Waywell's injury-crippled squad plays its seventh game in 16 days when Morecambe visit Hilton Park, kick off 7.45pm. The RMI boss has just 11 fully fit players and must again ask a number of his squad to turn out while less than 100 per cent fit. "The heavy schedule has certainly taken its toll on my 18-man squad," says Waywell. "That's where we are at a big disadvantage against the bigger clubs."
After tonight, Leigh wrap up their home programme with a visit of struggling Kingstonian on Saturday before finishing with a game at Morecambe on May 5.
Despite a poor run of only one win in their last six games, RMI still cling to sixth place in the table and one win from their final three games could be enough for a top six finish and a place in next season's LDV Trophy against League opposition.
