Halliwell Local History Society invites you to A Grand Day Out at Mere Hall, Thomasson Park.
This Victorian Experience is on Sunday, May 6 from 11am to 4 pm. During the day visitors will have the opportunity to step back in time and attend a Victorian Wedding, be a class-mate in a Victorian school, listen to ghost stories, watch a magic lantern show, try your hand at some old fashioned games and of course enjoy a cup of tea in the Victorian Tea rooms. Admission is free, just come and enjoy yourself. Members of Halliwell local History Society will be on hand to tell you the history of your area. Talk on Ataxia ST PETER'S Thursday Group meets every Thursday in St Peter's Parish centre on Church Road. Bob Greenhalgh, whose teenage daughter suffers from Ataxia, a crippling disease which affects one in 50,000 of the population is the speaker. Ann Greenhalgh was diagnosed at the age of 12, and since then has made a consorted effort to lead as near normal life as possible, and now is a university student. Conservationists go back to school MEMBERS of Bolton Conservation Volunteers are working in the Smithills area over the next month. At the start of May the group will be returning to some of the wonderful school grounds projects and seeing how creations are growing and giving a helping hand to look after them.
