BOLTON music Centre's young musicians already have plenty of brass . . . but now they have an impressive haul of silverware.
The musicians have been sweeping the board at music festivals around the area and are pictured proudly displaying their trophies.
As revealed in the BEN, 14 members from the Bolton Youth Brass Band, Bolton Intermediate Brass Band and Bolton Youth Orchestra competed in the West Pennine Music Festival winning a variety of awards across the age groups.
Excellent results continued when a talented group of brass players from the centre, aged eight to 15 years, travelled to Ramsbottom. They won first prize in the age groups -- nine and under, 11 and under, 14 to 15 years and the Open Class. They also won both the duet classes for players aged 12 and under, and 16 and under.
Winners were: Simon Minshall, 9, won the nine and unders; Kirsten Broadhurst, 10, the 11 and under; Helen Fahey, 15, won 14 to 15 competition; Alastair Burrows, 13, won the open contest for the second year running; Simon Minshall and Mark Harrison, 11, won the duet class for 12 and unders; and Scott Broadhurst, 13, and Helen Fahey won the duet class for players aged 16 and under.
