The match report comes courtesy of our sister paper the Lancashire Evening Telegraph ROVERS have one foot in the Premiership after second half goals from David Dunn and Marcus Bent finally killed off brave Pompey at Ewood writes Andy Neild
The relegation-haunted visitors had taken a shock 12th minute lead when Mike Panopoulos took advantage of some hesitant defending to turn in a cross from Jamie Vincent.
But Scott Hiley then handed the home side a lifeline on 61 minutes when he deflected an Eyal Berkovic cross past keeper Andy Pettersen.
That finally settled the nerves and Dunn then put Rovers infront when he slammed home his 18th of the season from a tight angle with 12 minutes left after Pettersen had saved well from Berkovic.
Bent then wrapped it up with his first goal in 10 games in the 86th minute after Damien Johnson had charged down a defensive clearance.
Before Hiley's own goal Rovers had peppered the Pompey goal as Dunn rattled the crossbar before Pettersen saved spectacularly from Garry Flitcroft.
But home fans nerves became increasingly frayed as a combination of poor finishing and brave keeping had kept Graeme Souness's side at bay.
