SAM Allardyce today pictured the scenario he dreams will land Wanderers in the Premiership by Sunday.

With a four-point cushion and a handsomely superior goal difference Blackburn Rovers are short odds favourites to clinch the second automatic promotion place.

But the Wanderers boss has far from given up and has urged his side to pile as much pressure as possible on their local rivals.

A 14th away victory at Wolves tonight and victory in their last game of the season at home to Sheffield United on Sunday would mean Rovers having to win one game or draw two and hope the goal difference is enough.

And with Rovers facing a difficult away derby clash at in-form play-off certainties Preston on Wednesday night followed by another tricky trip to Gillingham, the pressure could yet tell.

Allardyce said: "We did a tremendous job at Barnsley and we can only hope we can do the same again at Wolves.

"To keep the pressure on we have to win tonight and send them into the local derby with us on their tails. Then if Preston can win it all boils down to Sunday and if we come off that game with a win then you never know...Maybe we can make them slip at the final hurdle."

Allardyce will be without the injured Paul Warhurst tonight and the man he replaced at Barnsley, Colin Hendry, trained yesterday and his condition will be monitored before a decision is made over his readiness to play.

Nicky Summerbee is rated very doubtful with a shoulder joint problem but Dean Holdsworth is expected to be fit for action. Mike Whitlow comes into the squad.
