HIGHER Fold are still bang on target for a Leigh League 'quadruple'.
Saturday's 3-0 Davenport Cup semi final win over Atherton C&N put the current Division One leaders through to the last two, they already have the Redwaters Cup in the bag and are also in the final of the Carl Brown Trophy.
Not that they had it all their own way on Saturday. C&N, the Division Two table- toppers worked hard and it was the 57th minute before Steve Critchley got the opener for Fold. He followed it up on 75 minutes with the second and Steve Burns wrapped it all up on 84 minutes.
Division Two side Fir Tree Rangers won the other semi with a 4-2 victory over Division One outfit Britannia. Graham Rigby, Matt Seddon, Paul Swift and a John Bailey penalty saw Rangers through with Chris Mulcahy scoring both for the losers.
In Division One Royal Oak went level on points with Higher Fold at the top but have played four games more after a 5-0 away win at Limelight. Lee Cambray scored four and Paul Ogden one.
There was plenty of goals to be seen in Division Two with the four fixtures played producing thirty in total. Bottom side Mechanics Arms went down 6-3 at home to Sailors and Soldiers, Jason Halliday and Neil Burgess (2) on the scoresheet but goals from Mick McPike (2), Neville Todd, Paul Morris, Andy Cathcart and Chris Lea sealing it for the Atherton side. Gary Farnworth (2), John Clarke (2) and John Hall saw Hag Fold WMC to a 5-2 home victory over Asda Golborne, Darren Evans netting both for the losers. Two from Andy Tipping had Horns Inn 2-0 in front by the half hour mark at home to Courts B but they were soon clipped back for an eventual 5-3 defeat. Phil Rothwell (2), Anthony Davey, Shaun Priest and Andy Hardman scored for the winners with Steve Brooks Horns' other marksman. Two goals from Dave Sizer and one each from Wayne Sankey, Andrew Monks and Aaron Walker saw Howe Bridge Mills to a 5-1 home win over Three Crowns B. Shaun Yates got the consolation goal for the losers.
