WITH regard to the A5225 saga, it stands to reason that it would mainly benefit Wigan.
In view of this, should this road have to be built, surely it would only be fair to have it built mainly in the Wigan Borough.
Bolton never wanted the blue route, and Ruth Kelly MP is merely picking up where MP Tom Sackville left off, when he and his government sanctioned it 10 years ago.
There were alternative routes on the cards, but there was the little known 'green route', which would take the by-pass to the Hilton House roundabout which links to the Reebok.
It would be pure folly to bring a road through Lee Hall, which would be farcical due to the verocifous battle to save the area.
I know an omelette cannot be made without scrambling eggs, and it's best to scramble as few eggs as possible. A by-pass would not be needed if a reliable public transport system existed.
