WANDERERS
4-4-2 MATT CLARKE 8 Two outstanding first half saves from Proudlock at crucial points in the game. ANTHONY BARNESS 8 Snuffed out any hint of a threat from former England international Sinton. GUDNI BERGSSON 9 Absolutely outstanding! A towering influence at the heart of the defence. MIKE WHITLOW 8 What a comeback! After almost four months out it looked like he'd never been away. SIMON CHARLTON 8 Impressive again. Branch posed threats in the early stages but not for long. BO HANSEN 7 Another lung-busting display and another illustration of his versatility. ROBBIE ELLIOTT 8 Put up an effective screen in midfield; crucial to the defensive success. GARETH FARRELLY 7 Injured midway through the second half but soldiered on effectively. RICARDO GARDNER 7 The ideal all-rounder; contributed as much in defence as he did going forward. DEAN HOLDSWORTH 9 Another first class performance; hard-working, intelligent, unselfish and effective. the Match GUDNI BERGSSON
The skipper has rarely been more commanding or more influential than this - and on a ground where he has set high standards in the past. Magic Moment However comfortable things might seem, 1-0 is always a precarious lead. So there was relief all round when Holdsworth nicked the ball off Robinson and skilfully teed up Ricketts for the second. Moan of the Match Wolves skipper Kevin Muscat tried to protest his innocence but his tackle on Gardner just before half time was crude, late and dangerous.
