AUDITIONS to take part in a new play which turns the spotlight on 100 Years in Worktown take place on May 8.

The work is part of a project developed by a team of local writers led by Bolton Institute's Year of the Artist writer-in-residence, Bolton's Stephen Fielding. It is an oral history interweaving memories recorded from people within the town.

Stephen, an award-winning writer, has been leading a team of volunteers from the community in researching, writing and producing the stage play.

And now he has turned his attention to finding actors from within the amateur drama community in the town to star in the production which will be staged at the Bolton Octagon's Bill Naughton theatre in July.

Former Octagon executive director Simon Stallworthy will direct the play and the production team is searching for at least 10 actors to appear in it.

Since the play was first featured in Centre Stage there has been an impressive response.

However, anyone who still feels they have something to offer the project should contact Lorette Evans, Bolton Institute Arts Officer on 903353.
